A meeting on On-Farm Water Management was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal, attended by district officers and other relevant authorities. The meeting included the participation of Additional Secretaries, Chief Planning Officer, officials from the Agriculture Department, and district-level officers.
During the meeting, the Provincial Minister for Agriculture directed the timely completion of ongoing watercourse construction projects by June 30. He emphasized the need to ensure the achievement of targets assigned to district officers and transparent, timely utilization of funds allocated for developmental projects.
Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal instructed officers to regularly conduct field visits to monitor the progress of projects. He stressed accelerating the pace of World Bank-supported initiatives and made it clear that negligence or inefficiency in departmental affairs would not be tolerated.
He further directed to consult with Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) and National Assembly (MNAs) from relevant constituencies regarding developmental projects to better address public needs. Furthermore, directives were issued to implement effective measures to prevent water wastage, including promoting modern irrigation techniques and raising public awareness.
In his address, the Provincial Minister Major retired Sajjad Brakwal stated that Water is our national asset and agricultural progress is impossible without its conservation and efficient management. We must ensure transparency and accountability while utilizing resources for public welfare.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all participants were urged to promptly implement the directives within their respective domains.
